Hi,

My ML has developed a squeak from the front offside suspension.
It is more audiable withnormal driving rather than over bumps and if you rock the car hard you can get it to squeak.
Any ideas?

Guy's,

Thanks for the info it could be the ball joint as it was mentioned at the last service as having slight play, I am popping over to the indi in the morning as working from home so will see what he has to say.

Regards

Bang on Guy's

Had the car at the indi this morning, the front offside ball joint is the problem, quite bad and would not pass a MOT, the nearside has slight play but the car is booked in for both to be changed on Saturday morning.

Thanks again

Hi have you checked the anti roll bar bushes

Kevin

I have a squeak on my SL, bottom ball joints ok. You said anti roll bar bushes, what can go wrong? I have just replaced the outer ones so I take it could be the inner ones. Can you tell me what to look for please, the squeak seems to be worse after I have driven the car for a few miles.

Thanks

I was relating to the ML but I have replaced the outer ones with none genuine and they only lasted a couple of months, I have never had any trouble with the inner ones on the ML

How easy of a job is it to change all the anti roll bar bushes, How do you get the end ones out?

Regards

Mark

I will let you know on price as its going back on Wednesday, the track rod ends have sized up and they run out of time on Saturday to do the tracking.

Hi the front outer / end rubber bushes are clamped in position with a bolt that clamps the housing that covers them, if the bolt comes out without sheering off then they are easy to change, if they sheer off then you will be drilling and re-tapping as I had to do & replace with s/s bolts
The bushes have a flat side their not completely round its a bit difficult to see on the picture

Well spent 2 hrs at the indi yesterday morning while he worked on the tracking, the track rods had sizzed, never been adjusted since I have had the car but as they replaced the ball joints they wanted to set it up ok.
Anyway the short story is the car drives ok now as it did used to pull to the left slightly but now when its straight the steering wheel is around to the right. They are taking it to put it on the 4 wheel alignment jig next Thursday so will wait and see what happens.
The ESP light is on now but he did say this is because the steering is ok.

Will keep you posted.
