Hi, I'm new to the forum and the turbo on my ML270 CDI 2003 does not cut in any more :-(

The turbo has been reconditioned by turbo technics but still the same issue.
As part of the recon they calibrated/tested the acuator.

Does anyone have any ideas on what the issue could be.
Thanks Ralph

hi ralph, what results do you have from diagnosis of the problem? (eg fault codes etc)

obviously your car has an electronic engine management system, and the turbo will only work if the engine's ECU actuates it. in short you need a mercedes specialist with a 'star' diagnostic platform to have a look if this has not already been done. if it has, more details please!

A diesel

But you paid TT to recondition the turbo...

It will probably be either the inlet port shut-off motor or the EGR valve playing up.

Does the turbo ever boost for the first few minutes?

it cost £287 to have mine recon'd at turbo technics... not too bad.
The turbo doesn't cut in at all and it happened suddenly.

The dealer ran the star diag tester on my ML and it came up with 2 issues
Air mass sensor and a small hole in the intercooler
There were loads of historic alarms which they cleared
Sensor has been changed and turbo kicks in well with more power than before.
Just need to get a cheap intercooler any ideas.
Thanks for you help and ideas.

HI All, new to forum, i have a 270ml 2002, turbo would not kick in, i could only just overtake a cyclist...no kick down, would accelerate steadily but nothing from the turbo. Its not in limp mode, just bloomin slow. can sit at 70 on the motorway...just takes time to get there..
Anyway, local mechanic looked at it and found the rubber pipe shown in the pic that leads to the turbo had split where it joins the turbo, so he removed it, cut off the split bit, reconnected and bingo... turbo kicks in once more.. He checked it first by pulling off the end in the picture and blowing into it...( rather him than me) and from what he said it seems that you should not be able to blow through it as it goes into the turbo and its sealed. As there was no resistance ( like blowing through a straw ) he guessed the pipe was split.
Worth having a look before panicking about a new turbo or sensors..
Cheers
