ML270 Smoking.Help with German translation please.

I recently had problems with my 2004 ML270 smoking when on holiday abroad the local Merc specialist told me EKAS is defective.Also Drallklappensteuerung.Can anybody throw any light on this translation.One local garage here told me that it was a swirl flap on air inlet side but could not show me the part.The car was only soking on hard accereration ond then going onto overrun very quickly.

I would suspect the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve.......this can cause smoking if it is stuck open.
