Is there an oil sump filter in the ML270 that can be replaced ?

Also, is there a gause filter in the turbo oil feed pipe ?

I am replacing the turbo and want to replace everything that may have caused poor oil circulation. I know the peugeot's have a gause filter on the turbo oil feed and also have a sump filter.

I want to replace what I can while it is in dock.

Part numbers would be much appreciated :)

Only the normal oil filter on top of the engine and a strainer in the sump, never ever changed one of those!!

S-A-M / U-N-I-T,

Thanks for the reply.

Any idea what the part number is for the sump strainer, or is it a case of cleaning it ?

Everyone I talk to about my turbo failure say 'It fails for a reason you know !!!'

Now, most of them say its due to oil circulation issues and worry the hell out of me..

What do you think ? or anyone else for thet matter ;)

Its a metal strainer, could have got clogged up, used to in the old days, i have never seen a merc one clogged but dont mean it dont happen!! only other way is to check the oil pressure with a tester on to the pressure test point!!

S-A-M / U-N-I-T,

So an easy thing to clean out, after removing the sump that is ?

Would the Star system show current oil pressure ? and if so what should it be ?

No, you would need a hand held oil pressure tester which screws into the test point, and thats so much work to remove the sump to find a clean strainer, unless you no some with a andiscope, Spelt wrong i no,

What should the oil pressure be for a 2002 ML270 CDi ?

A local Mobile Merc specialist ids going to do the work, so I will ask if he has a tester.

Anything to put my mind at rest.
