The drivers window on my 2003 ML270 has stopped working. The motor is still going and I can pull the window up and down with my hand.
I removed the door liner / card and had a look in. The big semi-circular cog is still moving back and forward or around to be more precise, but it doesn't seem to be bringing the attached arm with it. The arm is still attached at the pivot point, but does not follow with the cog.
I assumed that there would have been a rivet or bolt of some sort between the arm and cog to carry the arm around, but I cannot see where it would go.

To top it off, the SRS light is now on. It think this is because I unpluged the door airbag when I was taking the soundproofing off to have a look in, can this be reset without a dealer plug-in

Can anyone advise me on these?

The blind rivets in the centre of the pivot point have sheared (a known problem), you can remove the complete winder assembly and repair it by welding (as i did with mine) or buy a new one.
Unplugging the srs plug and then turning the ignition on while still unplugged (probably when you operated the window to see what was going on) will trigger the warning light , the only way to reset is a trip to the dealers.

ps..........the winder assembly is secured to the door with standard pop rivets that you will need to drill out to remove.

I guess you are aware that the illuminated srs light means the airbags are disabled.

From what I can see (and I couldn't see very much), the mechanism is all riveted in, so I guess these all have to be drilled and riveted again. Does the whole window mechanism have to come out to do it (i.e. bars, rails etc.)

I was hoping there would be a turn the ignition on, close the door , put on the wipers and stand on one leg turn around three times and kick the back wheel sort of reset for the SRS code reset. There goes hope!

See my previous 'edited' post............yes, remove the whole mechanism.........just drill out the rivets and the 'star' ass' should wriggle out, the rails/runners stay in place.
