Can anyone advise me on the following warning lights?

Occasionally while driving the vehicle the BAS/ESP/ETS and ABS warning lights come on with an audible warning, there are no other symptoms. I can reset this by stopping, placing into park and restarting. I can travel for hours with no problem, but sometimes it occurs after minutes, so very intermittent. Having read numerous articles from people that have the same problem I decided to replace the brake light switch. I purchased he switch from a main dealer and fitted it in about 10 mins. Car started fine and no warning lights. On a 30 minute journey today the warning lights came on twice which is more than they would have done with the old switch!

I was aware there was a recall for vehicles as a result of a cruise control issue linked to the brake light switch. I contacted MB and they advise that there are no outstanding recalls for my vehicle.

Has anyone got suggestions as to what might be causing this?

Thanks for your reply. Is this wiring easy to check myself? Do you know the routing of it?

You need a star test
Star motors are in Berkshire why not call them and get a test done rather than guessing around?
You need fault codes read by someone with experience. It could be damaged wiring under the washer bottle amongst other things!

If the set-up is the same as a ML 270cdi W163, the wiring harness from the ABS unit (front RH side when viewed under bonnet, behind n/s headlight) may be damaged and shorting out on a sharp corner of bodywork.
On my ML it's best viewed from underneath.
After any repairs, put some foam lagging between harness and body.
