hey all...further to the lurching problem in the 89 230e. Just to recap, it lurches harshly at about 3 k rpm. Typically youll plant boot on a hill to get 3rd gear...it chops down and lurches untill about 4 k rpm is reached or 2 k rpm ...any thing in between is dodgy....It does this up untill about 50c

The other day from stand still (after sitting for five minutes) the car was going "dit dit dit" for a split second under acceleration. It did this on two occasions.

Take note that the lurching isnt a definate miss...more inconsistant power.

Put injector cleaner in, it stopped it for a while...its back...when cruising tho it will give a splutter sometimes since putting this in. Also under acceleration there is a slight lurching....the lurching happens at random times.

The dizy cap, leads, plugs and rotor have been replaced. Would water in the tank do this? I dont think its this as ive been through about 40 litres of petrol (multiple refils) over the last week and its still doing it.

Could the fuel pump be the cause? i notice the pump is quite noisy. Although it would lurch at 4 k rpm as well wouldnt it?

Ive also checked for fuel at the injectors....its good....except its bubbly like beaded water... hmm why did i write this? my answer is there!!!

Now to the next niggle. The ABS...over 20km the abs light comes on. Below it works good....Heres what i found when checking the sensors. The rubber seal was missing around the left front one. Would this upset the sensor as it is a little bit closer to the toothed wheel? I wiped the sensors but didnt clean the toothed wheel. Could it be voltage related?

Every one pile ur advice onto me! Testing techniques etc...its all appreciated

Josh.....

While you've got the fuel rail apart, check the fuel pressure. All sorts of misfires could be caused if it is low.
