As a sorta kinda follow on to whitenemesis' recent mpg thread, it would seem that we put faith in our trip computers.

I thought it might be interesting to compare the default (starting value)readings of various models' computers.

i.e reset "after start" to zero, start car and read off the mpg figure immediately given.

the model of the car would help comparisons,

i'll kick off
E220 cdi est 210 2001...26.3mpg
s320 cdi 220 2002...12.3mpg

thats with a stone cold motor.

They do over read by quite a bit, as you can see in my signature my W210 E320CDI finished on 41.1mpg for almost 100 hrs of running. The actual fuel economy over 109K miles was 36.59mpg.

So it's a v6 CDI then... :) E?

Thats what i put down on the poll, I think that there limits are limits on the size and what you can claim back when used for work

That is really for company cars and not private. I could give you chapter and verse but to be honest it is not exactly riveting subject matter. :-?

I have 2 options, 1 is engine size related and the other is the standard Inland Revenue rates. I used to take the engine size related option as that gave a decent rate for >3,000cc. Which is one reason I had a E320CDI the first time around 3,226cc and great fuel economy
Due to tax regimes changing around the world quite a few high O/P diesels are <3,000cc now. I changed options a couple of years ago so engine size is less important now.
