I usually use "just mots" in Worthing when getting an mot as they don't do repairs so are trustworthy, and its only £35. But I get a call from Mercedes Benz in Brighton saying that they can do my wifes mot, they will collect and drop it back all for £40 (and there about 10 miles away) sounds pretty good to me, but was wondering if I could trust them to just pass it and exaggerate stuff if you know what I mean. Anyone else used a main dealer for an mot?

The MB dealer I bought mine from last year phoned to say that its MOT was almost due. He seemed very disappointed when I told him I'd already had it done more locally to me.:lol::lol:

I must be a bit less trusting because I'd never even consider taking any car to a main dealer for its MOT. 'My' MOT station doesn't do repairs either. ;)

By all means try it, but ignore the list of warnings that are not written on the MOT

Easy for me to ignore the warnings/advisorys on the mot but they go down in the mot database that anyone can look at on the vosa website if I ever come to selli my car!

Can you ask for them not to actually go on the MOT then?

Let me start again

If there is something that may need doing soon but OK for now, this will be on the advisory, and just fine.

If they give you another paper or tell you other things, then they may not be true if something like brake pads and this in not on the advisory.

It will cost the dealer more than £40 to do a round trip of 20 miles plus an MOT......so this is a loss leader......what is it leading to?

Pads and discs have to be pretty low before they fall into MOT parameters. Your brakes can be at the point whereby the sensor would normally be activated but MOT garages still wouldn't advise at that point. In my experience.
