Think you posted something simmilar earlier in the week regards an alpine changer.
Whether it can play Mp3 files on cd is got to do with the firmware (software) built in to the system. For the audio 20 (CD non tape?) I'm not sure.
Some older CD systems have difficulty with CDRs, don't mind MP3 files
I do know that some of the Command systems can be upgraded to play MP3s with full menu of tracks. Upgrade CDs are available on Ebay for 10-20 euro, that do this upgrade.
Are you still getting the C220 cdi. Think you said it was near new. It is possible that the firmware in it is MP3 compatable.
My Dad has a 03 cdi, but I have not tried one out. I have not tried a CDR or Mp3 in the changer of my Blauchpunt for that matter:Oops: . Must make one up and see.
thanks pascal
Yes I am but no news yet, production date is early June but no comfirmed date.
Also I have heard that I can connect an alpine cd mp3 changer to the factory fitted audio in the car using an interface, have you heard anything?
Personally, If I had the money,
I'd put in the Becker all in one head unit.
Its called the traffic pro 7945.
Features:
It has blutooth for your mobile
Full speech control
Plays CD CDR CDRW MP3
Latest Navtech navagation, with voice
TMC
Okay it is expensive (nearly a grand)
Its Din fit (beleive you can get kits for non DIN apertures)
Your steering controls do not work (who cares, it has voice control)
It works not only on your present phone, but your next one also.
MB, are selling car kits for obsolite phones, for this money alone. Every time you change your phone, you have either a problem of compatablity, or a new cradle. Bluetooth has been around for a while now, and it looks like it will be around for a long time to come.
Ivan I know this does not answer your question, but it does give some insight into ICE in general. I feel Command is very overated (tiny screen, wont play this, wont play that) and overpriced (extra for this extra for that). I dont think it even has TMC yet.
Anyone got any updated info for this thread as ............
I have a 2004 CLK which has an Audio 20 Cd player and I have just fitted a glovebox mounted MC 3330 CD Changer (MOST Optical connection). According to the Mercedes WIS, my post June 2004 CLK is capable of playing Mp3 audio cds. Can anyone tell me if this is correct and if so is there any limitations such as max number of files, file name lengths etc etc.
many thanks gr8 forum
