Can any body help? Keep getting check engine and multiple misfires when driving after approx 300yrds
I have replaced catalytic converters,
Maf sensor
All spark plugs
All coil packs
Ecu has been checked and passed no faults
Fuel pressure checked , ok 4 bar constant .
I can clear the fault codes on star and engine runs fine but when driven it goes into limp mode with check engine light on
Any advise would be great as I’m out of ideas
Thanks all
Andy

Has the car been put on Star so it’s diagnostic codes can be read?

They suffer from water in the fuel rail due to it being a closed rail. Remove and wash out the rail with brake cleaner.........old fault but I still see it from time to time.....

Thanks I will try that, I have tested the fuel for water etc from the fuel rail and all looked good. Got to be worth a try

Disconnect the lambdas and see if it runs ok from the map open loop. If so the the issue is fuel related.

That's really useful ,
When you say disconnect.... Do you mean just unplug all 4 and also when you say map open loop what do you mean
Many thanks

Under normal circumstances the engine runs using feedback from the Lambda sensors to control mixture. This is called closed loop and the lambda sensors modify the base map (you see this in STAR as long term and short term fuel trim).
Removing the connection to the front lambdas means the car will default to the base map as it no longer has feedback on mixture. This called open loop.
Most ECUs run open loop on cold start, for a period after warm start and on wide open throttle.
The rear lamdas only monitor the health of the cats and play no part in fuel management.

One word of warning. Don't run without lambdas for any longer than needed as closed loop prevents the cats from overheating and becoming damaged by excess fuel.

Hi yes , once fault codes are cleared engine runs smooth and strong - for about 300 metres , then check engine and limp mode
