Mute cable on Audio 20

Chaps,
My radio (Audio 20 on a 53 plate W211 E-class) keeps muting itself!
Does anyone know which wire to cut so that i can disable the 'muted' function altogether? I don't know what else to do!

From memory I think it's the yellow one in the main plug.

Please check before doing so. If the yellow wire activates the mute, MUTED shows in the display.

If nothing shows in the display, try turning off the traffic announcement bulletins. Had a ford years ago that used to mute and it was the searching for traffic that caused it.

It was the yellow wire, and now, finally after 6 months, i have my sound system back! I tried absolutely EVERYTHING. Even the MB main dealer was stumped...

I cannot thank you enough; you're a genius!!!

Sadly not.

If it was the yellow wire, it must either be connected to an old phone kit, or picking up an earth/ feed from somewhere.

Glad your sanity is now returning.
