My F reg 2.0 auto 190e saloon, running quite well on petrol or lpg, has a rather curious habit.
At anytime after parking, which can be from 30 seconds to 24 hours, it occasionally emits a noise from somewhere near the back end exactly like a 'lowing' cow. A gentle moan which may be coming from some part of the suspension.
If anyone can identify this for me, and suggest the solution, apart from a humane killer, I'd be very grateful.
Regards all,
John

Two things come to mind..the rear handbrake shoes, they will need cleaning or replacing, the rear shocks.. rubbers seals have dried up on the pistons, spary with a silicone based spray..

Xtractorfan - many thanks for the suggestions. Both seem definite possibilities.
I'll post back as soon as I can try some remedial action.

I just noticed you got lpg..I would check the excess pressure valve on the tank that can make a groaning noise if the weather changes or evan if the outside air pressure changes.......and check to see if the petrol fuel pump is running after the car has been stopped.

Thanks for the suggesion jay. As the vent tube comes out low down at the rear, that could well carry the sound out from the tank in the boot, which is where I presume the valve will be ?
