My 1999 E220 CDI kickdown stops working and lose of power

Hi, so I've recently purchased myself a 1999 E220 CDI with only 50k miles. I've noticed it has a few issues, one being its loss of power. When you first start the car its idle revs fluctuate however when driving it drives fine, but after driving for a bit and giving it some beans its kickdown stops working and loses power. I've changed the CPS believing that was the source of the issue. However, it didn't make a difference. So, instead of attempting to fix the issue blind, I've decided it's best to invest in getting myself a good diagnostics tool. I've read that MB star is likely going to be the best option. However, I am unsure what version to get. Any advice would be appreciated

You need to start with reading the codes, anything else is guessing.

I think op would be better off with an Icarsoft and a 38 pin adapter to read the codes. Bit cheaper than star
