my 202 can only be opened by remote from driver side but won't open from passanger side. can anyone help? on the same day the sunroof stopped working too.
Jus had my MAF fitted to my car this morning & Deusch Motors (croydon) say the diagnostics didnt show any fuses blown. they said the refort showed there's wire ripped/missing connection somewhere.
I may hav to get an auto-electrician as this garage is a rip off.
If the remote is only working from the drivers side then I'm thinking that the RF side of the key (or receiver in the car) has failed and that it is opening via the IR receiver on the drivers door handle.
Firstly try your spare key and change the battery in the key.
Is the receiver only on the driver door (though it shows 1 on the passanger side). And is because the signal is too week to reach the driver door from anywhere else? So I hav to change battery?
There are indeed two systems on the 202, Radio and Infra red in you case the IF is working there is just the one receiver in the driver's door but your radio system appears to have ceased working for some reason :???:
Today I was walking passed my car & I thought let me try & open the car with my keys in my pocket & guess what?? The car opened.
So I tried the passanger window & it worked, The courtesy lights came on when the doors opened.
The only thing is that when the sunroof was being opened it opened a little at a time . Everytiem it stopped i had to press it again. then it wouldnt close. I finally worked out that I had to press the tilt button. When I tilted the sunroof I had to press the slide button to close it (any ideas why)
So from these simptoms would you say its a loose fusebox, or connections somewhere (as everything stopp working at the same time & suddenly started working again).
I currently have the same problem on my W203. This is the 2nd time it's died in the last 6 months. Last time MB fixed it at a cost of £600. They had to replace the electonic gubbins that enteprets teh signals from the key fob (someone told me the gubbins is actually called an OCP).
Mine too stopped working and then seemed to work again. It then died again and had been dead ever since. It's in the garage (again) tomorrow to have it looked at. Strangely my radio died at the same time.
merdeced do cram alot of wires in the car. especially as the battery is at the back. connections probably keep coming loose. I will get an electrician to check it.
I know I'm going back to jap cars once I'm finished with this one.
Fact: there are 2 infrared receiver on facelift W202
One on driver side & one on the passanger side (front doors). I found this out as the radio receiver stopped working on my car again. but as the passanger window & mirror was working on the passanger door I tried the infra red signal on both sides & it worked.
No I know its a source of power thats effecting this as
when the radio signal doesn't work the sunroof & courtesy lights dont work.
when the left door window & mirror doesnt work the passanger door infra red signal & mirror heating doesnt work.
when the right door window & mirror doesnt work the passanger door infra red signal & mirror heating doesnt work.
i think the garage told me alot of rubbish about me needing new regulators ont my door. I think I need a good electrician to look through the connections.
If your garage were talking about replacing the window regulators I can't see what the connection is with any of your problems as the regulator is just a gear drive which allows the window to be operated by mechanical means, see here ;http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.as...GM=716.624&CT=F&cat=45H&SID=72&SGR=045&SGN=03.
If this is the solution your current garage are looking at I would agree you should look elsewhere but you need someone with experience of working on these cars, as you say, the electrics are pretty complex.
In this instance you do have a wiring problem, but its not assosiated with the window lifter wiring. Get a good electrician who understands Benz. They are very complex.
