Did all the finishing today and road tested the NEW C55.

The performance is fantastic. Its very quick with a nice V8 soundtrack. More V8 like than a C43. Very very pleased with the job.

Thanks to Andy for letting me do the conversion. I told you that we could do it!

Very well done Olly.

Hi,
To say i was dissappointed not being able to pick the car up on friday was an understatment, due to a leaking trans cooler, but as Olly said it was better the cooler failled now, rather than when it was back on the road, and i had noted when i bought the car three years ago that the cooler and hoses were very corroded, so this replacement was inevetible in the scheme of things.
Well the new Trans cooler and hoses arrived today and were duly fitted by Olly and Jack, levels checked, ready for me to pick up this evening.
After stopping and brimming the fuel tank, i had quite an uneventful journey home staying at 60-70 mph the 45 miles home from Olly's workshop, i squeezed the throttle slightly more as i was on the last stretch home, and does it pull, so smooth and the torque of the engine is just so immense, i had to throttle off quite quickly as i was gonna find myself at a license snatching speed.
I later went into Southampton for a drive and the cars drivability has improved its so much quieter, and just glides along, i will be taking it easy for the next few hundred miles to let the reconned gearbox bed in and as the engine hasn,t been run for a few months, the plan is to have it back in next weekend for an oil filter and fresh fill of Mobil one, and general levels check, a quick mechanical inspection underneath, then i can venture in exploring the full performance of this 55 engine.

Its already been said several times over but what a fantastic job Andy.

I recall you telling me last year at the (near) Oxford GTG what your intentions were have to say it scared the wotsit out of me just thinking about it.

Olly and crew did you proud, what a job:cool: I would loved to have been a spectator however next best was the photo's thank you for that.

Regards

Roger

Hi,
then i can venture in exploring the full performance of this 55 engine.

Hi Andy - not much I can say that hasn't already been said about this fantastic conversion job :D Except perhaps for a little word of warning: I really wouldn't go 'exploring the full performance' until you have a properly flashed/re-mapped ECU. If you're currently running on the 43 map then the 55 engine will not perform as well or as safely. The last thing you need now after all this hard work is a blown engine  Things like air/fuel ratios and injector pulse timings are important to get right to prevent under/over fuelling and the associated possibility of det etc. When you're playing around with this much power it's wise to have a little more patience, hard as that may be ;)

All the best,
Mark

Why not remove it and surprise a few people?

How much more power you gained from this conversion?

I've been avidly following the progress of this conversion.Fantastic work.Yes,Amo-I tend to agree with having a Q car,at least for a while:).BUT,how many people would look at the badge and think 'Oh,yeah-C55 AMG.Has to be badge engineered'.And a few seconds later.........'Where did that go?':lol:

My E-Mail is on my forum contact page Malc.
The spacings were preset as they were stuck to a one piece backing, though as it has been pointed out to me the 5's are to close together but then the badges were E-bay fakes, but good quality.

OK, I forgot that bit, I had to change mine to read 500SL rather than the SL500 that it is to match the number plate

Hi,
Power wise, the standard production C 43 AMG has 306 BHP and 410NM of torque.
The N/A 113 55 engine was assembled in approx 5 different build configurations and states depending on which car it was built for, all with different power and torque characteristics.
The engine i have fitted is a CLK 55 AMG, which allgedly has 367BHP with 510NM of torque.
