I managed to get some photos befor the light went tonight..
I was counting the minutes whilst at work just so I could have another excuse to drive this beauty..
I have a funny feeling I will be keeping this car for a long time..

Thanks very much for your kind words...
Malcom, I have to admit I was just outside sitting in it going over the dash with Pledge and treating the leatherwork to some "Food"..
I know I am sad but I love the solid sound the doors make when you shut them..
My previous car was a Golf and I thought it well made.. But this is in a different league..
I keep thinking of people to visit who I havent seen for years, just for an excuse to drive her...

I am in love !!!

My wifes had the same when we collected it, mats protecting mats. Nice clean car, Mercedes are very addictive and the W203 is easy to add "toys" to, I retrofitted auto dim rvm, comand, aluminium trim to replace the wood and even comand!
enjoy that car!
Paul.

Hi Paul..
I love you Avatar by the way.. Is that watch your?
I have a thing for watches..
I am giving serios thought to retro fitting the command system..
My car has the Audio 10 unit in as standard and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised at how good the sound is..
Can I ask you how you find the sound of the stereo on the command system?
Dont suppose you have a photo of your cars dash with the command unit fitted do you?
Lastly, how good would you say the SatNav side of the Command system is?
Is it easy to use and more importantly is it accurate?

Sorry for the 101 questions

I picked my own one up today and drove it home for the first time in 6 months, although im one of the lucky ones to have a company car (£55000 worth) i still had that feeling of this is my merc and i own it, i still feel just as good in my own as i do the expensive one!!

Hi Simonarius, yes the watch is my Panerai 190, I too have a thing for watches. :)
The sound from the comand is as good as the Audio 10, I can take a photo of my wifes as I also did a Comand retrofit for hers too as my W203 has been replaced.
The sat nav side is easy to use and accurate but the downside is it will only take a partial post code, ie the first four digits so sometimes it can take a while to find where you want to go as you have to go town and street name . Even so I would always opt for it over the non fitted items as it looks great and has other advantages, tv ipod jack etc.
There is a great guy on here called Alfie who is the font of all knowledge when it comes to Comand, he also has a website www.comand.co.uk where you can buy the necessary parts.
I also have a list of all part numbers required for the retrofit so I will try to dig that out for you.
Paul.

Thank you very much for that Paul..
I feel pretty confident I will get it done..
Do you mind me asking another couple of questions?

I assume you have to have a DVD player fitted elsewhere to allow the SatNav to read the disc.. Or is the DVD Nav disc inserted into the units CD Player?
If this is the case then obviously you could not play a CD at the same time..

Lastly.. When the Nave voice is speaking does it automatically reduce the volume of the Radio / music that your listening to?

The DVD for the map reading is only done in the slot in the head unit. Your CD''s or radio can be playing when you drive, and when she speaks to give direction, this partly mutes the sound source. This is fully adjustable to a full mute, and you can change the settings so that the navigation voice suits you

Once again, thanks for the info Malcom..
It sounds very much like the command unit is going to win out over a TomTom..

The advantage of having the radio on full mute is that the Satnav and Traffic Information are each separate to the radio/CD so that on full mute, they pop in at easily audible volume, and only when they have something to tell you.

Enables conversation or reflection when driving, but keeps you informed.

Paul.

But Paul, you should add COMAND to your signature!

Hi Captain Picky;), the Silver C class is gone now but not forgotten (have uploaded a few photos of its replacement), I am working on a retro fit comand for the E class but it is considerably more expensive so will have to save my pennies.
Paul.
