I cannot release the nearside bonnet catch. The o/s releases ok but the little catch in the grill doesn't pop out, it has to be searched for and pulled out. When the little catch is pulled it release the o/s but the n/s catch remains firmly closed. I cannot see how to get in to release the bonnet catch by hand. I have tried squirting WD40 through the grill into the area where the catch is to no effect. I cannot see how to remove the grill from the outside - can anyone help please?

Try pushing down on the bonnet a little to take the pressure off whilst pulling the release catch.

Failing that, shift the bonnet from side to side to see if that helps.

ahh ok, has it released to the first stage i.e the bonnet pops up a bit but needs the catch pulled?

If so, that would indicate the cable is still connected/working.

I guess it's going to be the actual front catch unable to do the final release or the actual mechanism is stuck.

If you can lift the bonnet high enough with a helper try locating the pin which locates into the front cross member. Once found maybe use a piece of wood with a small hammer to nudge it in different directions with the hope of freeing it up.

The cable does seem to be working ok. The o/s part of the bonnet release a little but the n/s is firmly closed - not any room to get fingers in to lift and lifting o/s does not give much more room. It definately looks like the pin is stuck in the cross member locking hole.

The cable will have slipped or broken, it may be possible to get under the front of the car and move the lock with a large screw driver

i have fixed the problem. I managed to get the car on a ramp and did exactly what Television suggested so thanks very much to him and the others who offered suggestions.
