Yep, does anyone know if they're easy to adjust for driving on the continent.
Apologies, I didn't address this question in my earlier post. Short answer is that there is a small lever in the dipped beam housing that you move to mask the assymetric beam when travelling on the continent. If you do Customer Collection the car will be set up for continental use when you pick it up in Germany and your dealer in the UK will reset the headlamps when they do the UK PDI.

Hope that helps!

H'mm got a build date of mid September, which is a little too early - ideally want to collect at the back end of October (Half-Term).

Now, I've also been looking at the latest price list/tech info, and am very tempted to try and change my order to a C250 - anyone have any experience their order, or know that my chances will be? I'm hoping that as they're not starting the build until 7th Sep, there's still chance to change.....

personally, id stick with the diesel. probably similar performance, better fuel economy and a diesel will hold its value better than a petrol car.

oh right. i wasnt aware theyd started to make a 250 cdi. i knew that the 270 was now a 280, so i guess the 250 just slots in the middle somewhere!

The only way to find out will be to talk to your dealer - quickly! If "your" car is a good, saleable, spec then your dealer might let you cancel that car and order another but at this stage the spec of your car will be fixed by the factory with no changes allowed, so they'd have to have another buyer willing to take it "as is", or put it into their stock. I'm preppared to be surprised, but I wouldn't hold out much hope unless you have a very accomodating dealer :(

Managed to change the spec of mine before it was too late. There is a cut-off date which is known to the dealer so you can only ask. My E350CDI Coupe is due 17 September and the cut off date was 7 August - so could well be too late.

Thanks all.... have asked the dealer, and he's going to take a look and see what they can do.... I was originally happy with the C220 Auto so won't be that bothered.... it's just that I noticed the difference in performance of .9 sec, with only a 0.8mpg drop in economy seemed worth it - when I originally looked at economy I was comparing manual to manual - not auto to auto - Doh!

You can always change the software if it is too late, and make it into a 250

is he 250 an upgraded 220 though or a downrated 270/280? i know my old w202 c250 turbodiesel was a 5 cylinder engine rather than a 4.

I know that the 203 200 was the same as the 220 just the mapping,, A check on the engines used would tell all

It appears to be the same engine with different software.

Dealer seems ok to make the change, although they would need to source and additional car - but the Cash Price at the start of the PCP agreement has jumped by £2k.... bit steep when the difference in list is only £1050 ... looks like they're trying to grab back all the discount I negotiated up front.

So it's looking like a C220 for me after all....

i think, Malcolm, he actually has a c200cdi sport, as opposed to a 220cdi. however i have to agree that you should be happy with it. dad has had his for almost 6 years now, and still seems happy with it

I'm sure it'll be just fine.....

It also looks like they'll be willing to hold the car at the factory after building until we can collect at the end of October.... so looks like I'll be spending half-term in Germany...

250cdi is a 220cdi engine with an extra turbo. Both 4 pot engines. the 270cdi was a 5 and the 280cdi is a V6.

220cdi is now about 170bhp. 250cdi is 200bhp. Same engine "block" but the 220cdi is 1 turbo, the 250cdi has 2.
