250cdi is a 220cdi engine with an extra turbo. Both 4 pot engines. the 270cdi was a 5 and the 280cdi is a V6.

220cdi is now about 170bhp. 250cdi is 200bhp. Same engine "block" but the 220cdi is 1 turbo, the 250cdi has 2.

I was young once and could learn that lot,,:(:( Thank you Steve :D:D

2 turbos? bus be 1 for low revs and 1 for higher revs, like the set up bmw use then i guess?

exactly - very similar to the engine seen in the 123d. Astonishing engine apparantely that renders the older V6's redundant due to the power on offer yet the significantly better MPG. It makes 369 ft lb torque too (same as a 530d BMW) so may well be the worlds engine with the highest specific torque capacity

W204 C220CDI
st4 - please stop!!!

I'm now feeling really bad about not going for the C250....
I wouldn't get too upset about it. The 250CDI engine definitely produces more peak power and peak torque than the 220CDI variant, but if you look at the torque curve the 250CDI is very peaky as against the relatively flat and broad torque curve of the 220CDI. While I haven't personally driven either of these engines (my W204 C220CDI is the "old" 170hp unit), I would suspect that the 220 will feel a bit more relaxed and without a noticeable performance deficit except in a straight line drag race. Also, there's a consensus amongst the people I've spoken with who have driven the 250CDI that while its performance is impressive, some refinement has been sacrificed over the lower powered engine to achieve that performance.

Just enjoy your car and your trip to collect it.
