I'm about to purchase a 2 year old C Class estate, my first Merc.
I looked in the space where the spare wheel should be and it's empty, no wheel. Would the car have been originally sold with a spare / space saver ?

Welcome grumpy, interesting question, I have just been through the 2007 sales book and the spare wheel is not mentioned, do you have tools in the car

I've no idea if there are tools. I lifted the cover in the boot area and found an empty tray for the wheel.
I was interested in everything else about the car.

Should be a space saver, with the jack and brace attached.
You're not looking at the spare wheel cover are you? Unscrews in centre to reveal spare?

Tools in my W203 estate are in the left (looking from the back) side panel (press the first aid button).

Welcome to the Forum - we have lots of grumpy gits around here, but no one has adopted the title before. You have some pretty hard acts to follow in that department!

I often get described as a moaning faced b#stard but i thought panzermcgrory would be better than the Dr Joseph goebbels Michael Wittman supporters club ;)

The car could have the TyreFit option, instead of a spacesaver spare.

If it has it will have a can with a flexible tube and an air compressor, normally stored to the back of the spare wheel well.

The can contains a fluid that temporarily repairs small punctures from inside the tyre allowing you to drive to a tyre dealer.

I think the can of TyreFit has an expiry date, so if you are interested in the car make sure there is plenty of shelf-life left!

I've got it on my C class. Never used the stuff on the car but have used similar (TyreWeld) to fix small punctures on my ride-on mower. It works a treat!
