My Mercedes E class 220 2017 died

Hi everyone
Just wanted some advice,was driving 6.30am to work on m25 Saturday morning and my E 220 just completely died at 70mph in fast lane,no hard shoulder either so absolutely terrifying.
AA took it to the merc garage I use,never ever started again.They said engine blown,prob camshaft snapped and timing chain..there was no noise when it happened..it’s only 5years old - I have full merc service history and now have to pay £4000 for rebuild plus car hire for work..it’s done 100000 motorway miles but I’ve always looked after it.I’ve heard there’s been recall on some because of this.anyone had any probs

Snapped camshaft - never known that.
Hope you are not letting merc do the rebuild.
When they probably snapped camshaft have they even looked at it - i doubt it as thats a bit of work.
If that 4k is a MB price expect it to rise

If it has full MB history , why did you use the AA rather than MB’s Mobilio breakdown ?
Sounds dreadful for you , i hope something can get sorted without breaking the bank .

Certainly a rare failure, as the car has full service history I’d be asking for a MB contribution camshafts may wear but for it to snap means not fit for purpose at 100k miles

No,a few people have said that.it’s gone to a rebuild centre in ilford

No it’s going to another rebuild they didn’t even want to do it just gave me some numbers to call

You have MB breakdown cover based on your yearly MB service . Might save you a few quid .

Yes I’ve had it service twice since I purchased it
