Some will know possibly that here in Haddenham people refer to me as the Pigeon man, for some reason Pigeons seem to find me when in trouble, I have my long term Pig now nearly 4 years old and he is with me for life (30 years)
and this one attached was no bigger than a small hens egg when I found him, 2 weeks on and he eats a packet of Felix cat food a day, hes got big quick.

Pets have a way of getting into your heart whatever the species.

I lost my much adored dog yesterday. He'd been with us for 11 years and was 14 and a real character. Not ashamed to say I've shed a good few tears - funny, I've lost relatives and it's not hit me so hard. Still its what you get from them when they're with you that makes it all worthwhile.

From Mrs B

Yes i agree - we have a lovely white german shepherd - she is a police dog in plain clothes.

She is the second one that we have had and i was so upset when we lost our first dog. It is so nice when you come home and they are there to greet you. It's not quite the same coming home after fighting your way through the supermarket, loaded with shopping, and the only person there to greet you is your husband-don't get me wrong-it's nice to see him -but it's when he tries to lick my face i get agitated.

Sorry to go on so long-but there's nothing on the telly.

The dog i have now is very clever- she gets up every morning when the alarm goes off, goes to the kitchen, makes coffee and toast, and boils an egg exactly 3 minutes. She brings it on a tray to us in the bedroom and then stands on her head.

Well you may ask - why does she stand on her head.......

it is because we don't have any eggcups.

I'm so sorry you lost your dog.

My wife and I had been married for over 30 years before we got our first dog - a retired greyhound. We were so taken we got another.

I know that we will both be devastated when either of them goes.

I'm a fan of Leonard Cohen, the Canadian poet/singer/songwriter, he puts it so well:

Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died

So sad, but so true.

I guess you probably wouldn't like the Tom Lehrer song "Lets poison the pigeons in the park" then.

Jrt

My late beloved Jack Russell Terrier, pip, was a big fan of my S500L, plenty of play space, warm seat in the winter, Climate in the summer, Nappa leather for a good grip,
big tyres to pee on and was very protective of his tin box.

Here in central London any infringement of parking regulations would result in the car being towed, but, a car cannot be towed if there is an animal in it, especially one with a bared set of teeth!

My car registration; S500JRT

on a lighter note - firstly i must tell you that i am a real animal lover. but this is a true story

When i lost my 1st dog - white german shepherd to cancer - i was devasted and stopped work for a week, eyes swollen from crying-very miserable. My husband went out and bought me another white german shepherd pupy which helped me get over my loss. I got a phone call from my brother who is not a dog lover, I told him that my dog had died of cancer- he made the right polite noises- Oh sorry to hear that - to which i replied - i feel a bit better because i have now got a new puppy- what sort of dog did you get he said - i've got exactly the same dog as i had before i replied. What - he said- you've got another dog with cancer. Although some people may think this is outrageous- it was the first time i had laughed for 2 weeks.

Does that mean they're flying around with sunflowers growing out of their bum?

You know, having a pet is supposed to humanise and civilise, and make generally better and nicer people.

Guess there are some none pet owners on here then....

I am just a little confused as to why this thread is in a General Mercedes Benz related discussion forum.
Why is it not in the non related forums?

Pets make you home come alive.
We have two cats, Jessica is a true lady she would require her mouse to be skinned, roasted and presented on a silver plate with trimmings. She is a rescue cat and is great, spends most of the night with my daughter who loves it as she finds it hard to sleep most nights.
Tigger, well he's the thug, loves to play and gets up to no end of trouble but he gives us a laugh a day and follows my wife around like a lap dog.
Now to the big guys, we have also 4 horses, ranging in size from the huge to the small and all with there own personalities, my favorite is a mare 26 years old called solitaire and was very much in a mess when we got her, she had been stabbed, caught in barbed wire and was very stressed, now she loves nothing more than putting her head on my shoulder and going sleep which is the best feeling in the world, apart from driving my ML that is.
My wife has a dream, and after her horrendous incident where she was attacked at work resulting in a serious head injury she would love to open her very own rescue centre for horses. Sam devoted her life to helping people and it was one of them the so viscously attacked her. Now she wants to devote her life to helping horses as all they want to do is give her love back
