You can now go online to your local dealer and go to "My Service", type in your reg and up comes all the details of your car and the next service, it gives the prices for the service and a list of things that may need to be changed as extra's like plugs, filters and gearbox fluid, brake fluid that are added to that service.

Next you go to the section where you have the choice of 4 choices like leave car all day, pre booked time, car collected and delivered etc.

I was in MB SW in the stores and I saw it all working and popped my car in and £299 for an A service plus any thing else that may need changing, some things you can choose or do them your self like filters.

This isn't new - the Mercedes owned dealerships have had it for some time, years maybe.

I reckon it'll put people off - the prices are full rack rate and the cost of additional work is huge. I don't know if they're all the same, but Mercedes Manchester has "diagnosis" at £144. :!:

Well its brand new in mercedes SW all put in this week :D There were no prices for the extra's. I only accessed it from the workshop, but apparently it is in the main reception and the girls there look it all up.

1) £66ph for diag here
2) We don't follow MyService prices, especially not for loyal customers

Not all dealers are the same. Not all independents are the same.

I tried my local Drayton group and they don't do this service(on line that is not the car) tried the one in the next town and they do it. £450 for a B1 service. Car will be 2 years old with 14000 miles.

If you pay someone to diagnose your car and they get it wrong after you replaced part/s under their advice, does that mean they are responsible for the misdiagnoses. If they are 144 pounds is cheap insurance. If they aren’t how does that stack up under consumer law, you paid for a service and they got it wrong...?

I've wondered that ever since I joined here. This forum is littered with posts where dealers have diagnosed the fault (presumably with Star), replaced parts and yet the fault remains. Racking up large bills for the customer.
People seem to pay though.
Imagine if it was a builder doing that. I suspect he'd be told to 'go away'.

Perhaps Mercedes should run the NHS. Might stop all the lawsuits for misdiagnosis...

Been available for a long time and not always correct. Last time I tried it said my car needed an A service when infact it needed a B service. Weird thing is though the ESS correctly stated it needed a B service.

Well it has not been around a long time every where, is anything correct when it comes to servicing. £299 for a basic A is very expensive on my CL and MB Watford re set the service menu wrong, I do not think that MB Watford every get anything right

We've had a car in with us for around two months. It's an 06 plate CLS and the customer has been driving our brand new CLS free of charge during that time. We've tried a number of repairs to solve the intermittent loss of power / EML, and credited the customer for repairs which haven't worked. Our highest paid, most experienced Diagnostic Technician has spent over 50 uninvoiceable hours working on the car and looking up technical information to try to solve the issue.

Doesn't necessarily show is in the best, most ominiscient light, and doesn't answer your legal question!

I started out in the repair business in 1950, some 330,000 repairs in my life and the odd one would come in that is near impossible to repair. In several cases I have given a refund and taken the item back, sold it on to another and they were over the moon with it and it never went wrong. :D

You should come and visit our service department some time, Malcolm - you'd fit right in!

ML 270CDi 2001.
Just did mine ML270cdi major service the quote was £798 and for another £130 I could have a diagnostic too. Cheap at half the price, I think I will wait 2 years , weigh in the ML for scrap and could potentially save 1500 quid on 2 services and a one off diagnostic. Say I got 300 for the weigh in I would have 1800 towards my next car. As mine only cost two and a half grand to start with, less 400 quid tax twice (disabled) save on the service 1500, save up over two years at 50 a month that's another 1200 so quick total er er 3900 cash for my next one. I could have a 164 then. whoppieee..

I am always teased by the service manager in MB SW I have been in there talking when a customer asks a question and he has turned round and said "ask me" I give answer and the car is booked in :D If I was not so old I would have done the odd electronic fault for them.
