w203 c180 saloon. (silver)

sorry for another thread.
Perhaps we should have forums sections by fault !

Read all the other posts but without taking the plastic inner arch off completely, (which means the wheel as well) I still cant find the damn thing.
Is it literally under the battery hidden behind some inner frame. I can see one wire trailing and possibly a loom but if thats it, its well hidden.

Getting it go off when I unlock and random after locking. Sometimes not switching off at all.
Sometimes indicators sometimes not.???

Will it mean a new sam unit and / or battery, possibly even a steering pump for good measure

What a car.

If it is a new siren, you'll need an M8 nut as brilliantly the old one is held in with a bolt, and the replacement needs a nut.

Inspired design change:rolleyes:

The siren is on the nearside, located near the bottom of the inner wing (next to where the wing meets the door)

I looked in there- could see nothing. Sound sounds as if its coming from back of engine.

Actually this is rapidly escalating to an URGENT problem PITA
Gone of 5 times in last hour. If I lock and unlock it stops. Neighbors are going to get ****ed off big time. I am.
Not to mention constant drain on battery.
I've tried pressing the alarm button on dash to turn it off, but it just goes again. What can I do. Need to turn off but keep locked

It's right at the bottom (see pic) right where the arch bends round to become the floor.

[I know the picture is of Mother's W210, but for illustration purposes only (and its too cold and dark to take a pic of Mrs E's W203)]

Thanks. I just found a pic of it on web. Tiny little thing. Must be what I did see looking from wheel arch.

ANY WAY TO TURN IT OFF.

Just back.
What a nightmare.
Just been out there in all the wet and muck - FREEZING.
Ripped up the plastic arch but still couldn't see it, yet I new its there. Must be behind the frame. Anyway had to take a gamble, hate myself for it but just cut the wire and . . Silence. Phew! More for the weekend to fix.

Remote not working now. But it still starts at least.
Dont get it though. Only two wires. So its just a sounder (thats at fault) where's the control box. Cant be just the sounder at fault because the lights flash too.

So if sirens 'disconnected' indicators shouldn't flash all night either- correct ?

Unless alarm is properly triggered?

Err, pass.

All I know is that the mother in law's  W203 had the same fault (alarm sounding/ indicators flashing) and it was the siren.

You'll notice that the new modified siren beeps when locking/ unlocking.

all done and working. Repaired the alarm, replaced the fuse (9) cheers for the tip, and so far, least five hours, hasnt gone off. (i'll wait up till five past midnight) just to be sure.

So no doubt about it. dodgy batteries. Chap in Maplin where I bought the replacements said they only have a 3-4 year life

My alarms going off on its own again :(
Just the siren, no lights, so wasn't sure it was mine. When i did reset it five mins and then hazards are going mental, no siren. Cant be batteries again already, surely. ??

Resets OK, but then an hour later goes off again. Mother of all headaches and its getting on my nerves.

guess he overestimated then! :D

as you know, disconnecting the siren might give a temp fix, but you have cut and fixed the wires so it might be corroded wiring this time.
