Mystery broken wire?

Hi All
I am new to the forum and wondered if anyone could help me identify this broken device on the end of a wire I discovered whilst removing the central panel which surrounds the air conditioning controls?
There is nothing obvious here that it may have been once attached to. As you can see it has a small PCB at the end that itself appears damaged?
Any thoughts gratefully recieved.

Looks aftermarket to me. Flashing LED for aftermarket alarm perhaps?

Thanks Uncle Benz, yes I think your right looks out of place. I think I will tape it up out of the way and carry on with what I was doing, (fixing the broken lugs that hold the panel in place). Thanks once again.
