Hi all

To protect my investment (and to stop the dealers scaring me with repair costs!) I have been looking at vehicle warranties. Looking around I came across the above company, myvehiclewarranty.

Has anybody had any experience of them? The reason I ask is that they have given me a quote that is almost unbelievably cost effective (read cheap). One year of top notch cover with no excess on my CLK270 is £361.25, rather average in the scheme of things but, and this is the killer quote, lifetime cover of the car for just £486.25!!!

I have spoken to the company and they claim it is an insurance backed warranty (with AXA) but I am having trouble believing the claims as there is little about them on the net and I am loathe to give them close to £500 if it is a bit of a scam.

Honestly, try the AA as well. A lot of warranties have exclusions. Check this over very carefully. Personally I do the scottish method, put aside a bit everymonth into a savings account and build up a repair fund. If nowt goes wrong you still have your money and this can go towards your next car.

If you were running a 230 you would have to put away all of your earnings:(

I nearly died when olly mentioned the cost of the ABC shocks in your car. Not a car for the faint hearted or the thrifty mcfrugals of this planet.

2 or 3 ECU come to another £1k a new set of roof seals for the boot,, " that will be £4k thank you, fitting is extra"

I find putting £60 of diesel in hard enough, as 70% of that is for the cloon. The 211 much cheaper to run thank god.

And you go 3 times further than me on your £60,,,,at my time of life it does not matter

I drive like a nun to make sure of it. 54.2mpg on the way to the scots meet yesterday. I did enjoy driving a S500L there but the MPG readout scared me. I had a couple of guzzlers and couldn't go back to that cost of fueling easily. Too used to putting £60 and driving 500miles.

I could probably do 600 but that would be taking it too easily. The millers stuff has worked wonders....well worth doing if you have a diesel. Might invalidate your MB warranty as their wee book tells you not too, but just don't tell them if the engine goes boom. Anyone who uses millers seems to have longer injector wear, perhaps the OP with the 270cdi should buy some...

However I would like top down motoring. When will MB build an SL320cdi or even better for my budget, an SLK220cdi.

I think it was up on the other forum. A very interesting car and if the batteries are replaceable it will be the car that will last the longest. It won't have the top speed of the petrol one but the acceleration, refinement will all be better. Plus in a few years there will be a £5K grant going to whoever buys one.

What's Millers? Is it like a diesel additive? I tend to stick Shell fuel in as it seems to have better cleaning agents than others. I'll do anything to prolong the injectors (had a Volvo S60 D5 before and they were £300 each + fitting).

Their website says they are agents for Motorcare Warranties Limited so if it's their warranty being resold in another name, you might want to read here:

Try Warrenty direct there online and cheap. £400 for my 04 e320cdi. But look at the percentage you pay if mileage is high. They also cover wear and tear!!!!!!

Just read the reviews on this - all seem pretty good. Anybody know why MB don't want it in their engines??
