need help please

hi.
new to the site today.
i have just bought a 2002 c220 cdi.
the warning light saying oil level to hi reduce level has came on a few times when the engine is warm.
i have a oil extractor but am not sure where the dipstick tube is.
also how much should a remove for a start

The dipstick tube is under the plastic acoustic cover. It may not require any removing but try 1/2 litre as a start.

i had a quick look today and the only tube i can see is at the back under the cover to the right looking from the front of the car.then got confused when i read some posts about the transmision dip stick. is hat the engine one then

The transmission dipstick tube is at the rear side of the engine, near the firewall, the engine dip-tube is under the acustic cover.

I would be inclined to purchase a dipstick anyway. The part number should be A6110100372

any idea where about under the cover sorry for the ignorance.
the one i saw earlier had a small 2-3 inch insert was under the cover but at the back

removed just over half a litre and all is well now.
