Need information on Mercedes W124 M103 part numbers for CPS

Need the right part number for rear crankshaft sensor with vin number WDB1240262A941384 1989 there is a 118 and 118 mine is the 122 - 166 ..So many and not sure of the right one i need . Thanks in advance ..

Is yours definitely dead? I ask as I haven't had a failure in 27+ years. They're very reliable.

The last car I had this fault on was the engine ECU. Wouldn't start with a crankshaft signal fault. Scoped the crankshaft and confirmed it was working .

Yes, and the fault (code 17??? can't remember) is a red herring. The code always appears as the engine isn't running so the CPS can't return a signal. Apparently the code doesn't appear if the enigine's running but I've never tried.

All this on my '91 124.

True. It's because the sensor is an inductive type as only generates a voltage (sine wave) when the engine is spinning rather than a hall sensor that can be checked for open/short by the ECU.

Yep. I measure mine by unplugging from the Ignition Controller (sometimes misrepresented as the EZL!). Should be between about 800-1200 Ohms, cold/hot, I think.

The OP might test his.

Top right connector but your EZL will be different. Anyway, it's a coaxial connection with just screen and core.

Thanks.But the CPS is all good, i need one for spare only ..every other item in the HT system i have spare in my garage even a spare EZL inc coil this just in case one of them pack up. Dont like chepo parts in the ststem , so the cps is just for spare. I know where ther is a A002 153 92 28 so off to take a look now
