Hi Experts :)
I reserved a used GLC-2018 and want to know the service history. The dealer told me they didn't have any service history from the previous owner. I called the MB dealer and they don't want to provide a service history without V5C. Do we have anyone here who can provide me this, please?

As mentioned the dealer should be able to obtain the service printout from a MB. Without it there's no service history - if the car is advertised with a service history then the dealer must provide it otherwise its false advertising.

it is not advertised like that but getting service history from MB is quite standard and that gives your customer satisfaction. It is the big motoring world, the dealer is trying to hide this. MOT also look suspicious as in the first MOT 2 tires had cuts and MOT failed.

if only there was still a service book ..... it'd be so simple!
It's such a stupid system now isn't it. My daughter in law bought their last MB without even asking about the service history, which was kind of naive I know. When she got the car and contacted MB there didn't seem to even be what I would call a proper service history, a few services here and there, no bills or anything! We keep every bit of paper with our car, all the service reports, all the MOT certificates, everything.

I did the same with this ML  but I bought from MB themselves.
It did turn out there was some history in the bumf that came with the car ..... but I suppose I should really have asked.

The GDPA has a lot to answer for when buying a used car from a dealer.
No longer can they pass on receipts and bills detailing any work done if the previous owners name is printed.
MB have nothing to lose by giving any service history for a possible purchase before committing to buy.
If you have a friendly Mercedes specialist with Star, ask nicely and you may get the details you need.

At my last service the Indy asked if wanted the basic or detailed history, this was a mistake as she was new so I asked for both.

1 sheet was a simple date and mileage list. The second a few pages detailing each service. As this is easily doable, no seller should refuse unless they have something to hide.

I also have a book and folder of receipts and invoices, keeping all the stuff in chronological order. This way should I ever need to refer to something, I can do so easily and have all the detail. This staggers any workshop that doesn’t know me.

I’d be happy to see one keep all the invoices for each service and go off that. Who cares about a dealer list stating date and mileage as anyone with a brain cell knows services these days are anything but! A dodgy oil change, vital fluids, plugs, filters perhaps once in a blue moon or two is not a service but, certainly a certified shag knacker.

A MB DSB just states date, mileage and service agent - nothing to do with GDPR.
Any dealer can pull it up. moreso the selling dealer in this instance.

This GDPR BS from dealers is precisely that - BS. When I bought my (second user) S203 I already had a service invoice from the MB dealer containing the owner's details, but the dealer played Silly B's about supplying further service invoices and eventually did, but with the owners details cut off. When I bought the S204 (again second owner from the original supplying dealer, used approved) the salesman printed off all the service etc invoices without problem - I just asked for the service history! Like some on here, I am a bit anal about having a history file containing ALL paperwork about the car, and it has helped immensly in selling a number of cars, whether private or on PX.
