Hi everyone,

I need to recharge my A/C- Today's heat made me more aware of the need than usualy.. Lynall sent me a diagram showing the low pressure port- but I still can't identify it in my car (a 1998 S280). Can anyone describe the location of the low pressure port in the W140?

Greg.

Pretty certain you can regass a/con through just the high pressure port, ie you only need the one, bloke at work did a friends w203 the other day this way, as he couldnt find the second port.

Your can I should guess is an import so the ports for the AC may not be in the same position anyway, one port is at the front of the car with the bonnet open there is a little tab that lifts up next to the washer filler neck, it has the picture of a hand on it, the other port is in the engine bay right hand side near the dryer, there maybe a plastic cover hiding it but its in the area on the front right corner.

Thanks Jib,

I found the port on the right hand side under the plastic cover, just as you described. I was quite surprised I'd missed it earlier because i'd been under that cover before.
I checked the pressure and found it was in the "safe zone" with the A/C on max cool and full blast. I still put about 400ml of R134a in it though..
Didn't move the dail up more than a few bar. The performance was no better when I first turned it back on, but it became alot colder after driving about two miles in town. I think I'll try it without the pollen filter, just incase an old filter is part of the problem...
