I have managed on my 2nd attempt to get Mercedes to pay 80% towards new alloys for my 2003 e class which all 4 wheels are corroding.

1st - is this a reasonable offer - should I ask for 100%?

2nd - Would they replace with the same alloys or would the alloys be the newer spec? If not would it be reasonable to ask for the newer style if similar price?

Thanks

Just my opinion - 80% on a 5yr old car is generous. However what does that relate to in money terms? The wheels cost MB next to nothing, so even getting 20% out of you covers a considerable amount of the cost for MB. Does your contribution include removing and refitting the tyres etc? That's quite a bit of work for the dealer.

If you don't ask etc... But I would be gobsmacked if they agreed. And anyway, would it make your car look odd if it had wheels inappropriate for its age?

leak from alloy wheel

Hi i have S class 2003 53 reg and recently was having problems with 1 tyre constantly loosing air presure so took it to my local tyre shop and while i was present they found the leak was from the alloy rim on the inside so dismissing negligence on my part it is obviously a manufacturing fault in the casting.so they tried to repair it but now have come back and said it was not a sucessful repair.
I have been in touch with my local MB dealer who are saying as they did not look at it in the rirst instant they cant help because its been tempered with,my point is i thought it must be the tyre but had no idea the rim can ever leak.
Any suggestion.

In all honesty you cant really ask MB to warrant an item some tom dick or harry has been at with an alloy welder
I know i would not
