Thanks to all forum members that responded to my earlier query.... hope to see at the local dealer on Saturday.

Next question is...
I believe that the new C class has integrated bluetooth as standard... is this correct?

If so, wil my Nokia connect automatically so i can use the steering wheel controls and display on the dash?.. if not how can i achieve this?

Thanks

Yes blue tooth is intergrated into the command on the 204, ask at the dealership to as them to show you through the paired process.

I assume it's similar to the system in our new Freelander. Basically you pair one or more phones up, then once connected to a specific phone, it downloads the phone book automatically and then all controls are via the radio or wheel controls. With command this will also handle text messages, without it, messages would still be done from the phone.

The Bluetooth function on the 204's is automated. When I have Bluetooth activated on my phone and get in to the car after 30 seconds or so the car asks me if I want to connect or pair them up. Mine does have the linguatronic but I have also tried this on the standard COMAND units too.

It must do a scan of the area for Bluetooth activated devices shortly after start up.

The quality of sound and controls through the car is fantastic, only something you could get on a Mercedes-Benz.

Roll on delivery of the 204 Tourer, my dog hates travelling around on the back seat. (Poor visiblity in the rear)

I have the Cdi 220 Sport and use a Nokia N95.
have to agree with the comments here - it pairs within 30 secs of getting in car and the quality is awesome. I use it all over the country and it never fails to impress. The steering control function is great also.

Only problem I have is I have it on charge in the glovebox and keep on forgetting it's in there when I leave the car. In fact as I type this I'm in work and just realised I've done it again and left it in the damn glovebox :)

Do you get full funtionality with the bluetooth in the new (204) C-Class. I was under the impression you get basic connectivity but if you want full funtionality you need one of the adaptors

If you want to have the car automatically read the phone's address book, or want to use the external antenna then yes, you need to order the W204 with phone pre-wire and then use an appropriate cradle.

However, if you can tolerate having to maintain the car's address book by sending vCards from the phone to the car for each contact then you get all the normal calling functionality (but not SMS messaging) that you'd expect, including caller ID display in the car.

Yes, you have to import the phonebook to the hard drive on the car. Not a good idea as what happens if the car is stolen???

I have raised this concern with my local retailer, they looked dumbstruck.

If I was unlucky enough to have my W204 stolen, I think the last thing on my mind would be the phone details!

Remember, to pair the phone in the W204, you need to input the correct passcodes for the phone. Don't worry and just enjoy the car, they are v good :)

good point , the details are only available when that exact phone is paired. Without the phone which has the details in it anyway you can't get at them - stored on the hard disk or not.

I have all the pre wire etc in mine but there isnt a cradle available for the N95so I have to use Vcards or manually enter the contacts which is a pain but it works a dream once done.

By the time an N95 cradle comes out I'll have replaced the car (in 3 years) ;)

There is a Bluetooth SAP cradle available though that works with many Nokia phones. This effectively "takes over" your phone's SIM and address book and so you get something similar to the "full integration" that a you'd get with a hard-wire cradle. Search for Alfie's post about it for more details.

Hi Rockerbox, welcome to the forum and congrats on the new car!

Before the car will receive vCards (Nokia Business Cards are the same for this purpose) you have to both pair the phone - which you've done - and then set the phone system in the car into a particular mode so that it will receive vCards. I can't tell you exactly how to do this with Comand (my W204 doesn't have it) but in the telephone menu somewhere there will be an option to "Receive vCard". Select that and then you just navigate to the contact you want on the phone, then select options > send Business Card > via bluetooth. The phone will search for bluetooth devices, you select your car and the phone sends the info to the car.

It's a bit laborious if you have lots of contacts, but you only have to do it once for each one ;-)
