Reject. And let them have a go at sweetening the deal. You hold all the cards. Sloppy treatment tbh.

If you ended up not paying the finance as agreed, possibly a little less - would they see your side of the argument....I think not.

Whats wrong with what stumpy1 said?

We are all so keen to jump down someones throat for a small mistake. Some rear window tints and the dealer takes off the badges and maybe chucks in a 1st service and an umbrella and whats the harm?

Nothing at all...but that would be far too reasonable.

I've had film tints on two cars and they are fine. Plus, you can full phat limo tints which are proper black out at the back. Jay offered me them, I took the normal ones which are like the factory tints. Wish I went for the Limo ones for the back. Next time maybe:lol::lol:

I just think the OP is adding too much hassle and inconvience to which should be a pleasure, a brand new car.

The glass from the factory will be about the same as the tints on the rear of my C class. You can see in, but just.

I don't how its darkened (smoked maybe) but a film is fine, and in a way better as it is an additional layer of laminate making the car tougher to break into.

And, a film can be removed if you end up not liking it.

I agree with ST4, let them de badge it and tint the windows, and a goodwill gesture, or you will lose the pleasure of a new car.

I suppose the extra four week wait would not bother you either??? It's probably more annoying that when the OP was already anticipating a new car, that he then gets a right royal kick in the nads, when Mercedes cannot even deliver a somewhat simple order, correctly OR on time. A car is usually the second most expensive thing the majority of people buy and when spending such money customers have a right to get what they ordered - when they ordered it. If I performed in this way at work I would NOT expect a ''shrug of the shoulder' and a 'Heyho' attitude to get me off the hook.

They'll fit a film tint and remove the badge. Whats not to like, the car will be as orderded, darker windows and debadged.

There is getting what you want, and there is being deliberately obtuse about going about getting what you want.

Mercedes dealers walk all over us post-sale and use legal weight when required. No point letting them off with it pre-delivery.

The more we stick to our guns pre-delivery then we all might get better service in the end.

MB stands for Mercedes Benz, the dealers are slowly turning this into More Bull****

Would a dealer applied film-tint be covered by the car's MB Warranty ?

To be clear, I am not an MB apologist.
I just pointed out that the Law and I used the word, unfortunately, does not support the throw your toys out of the pram reject it line, that seemed to have some support.
I think you should get what you ordered, it does appear though the errors can be corrected in the transaction, that seems to me to be a reasonable outcome.
The further issues you subsequently point out are more complicated and I have no views to offer.

Deliberately obtuse?? Is it not reasonable when buying a vehicle around £35000.00 that you get what you order when you expect to get it? Should the personnel involved not take care when ordering an object of this value? Is a customer not entitled to any level of competence? Maybe one should only expect to get what you order at the 'Chippy' or 'Argos' and not at probably the second biggest purchases of one's life.

And as for deliberately obtuse - if the dealer was able to do his job with a modicum of professionalism.....

Your right you should get what you have ordered and it appears that the windows and debadging can be achieved, even by swapping the glass.
If the car was supplied with a fundamental difference say manual rather than auto, petrol rather than diesel, even the wrong colour then a reject it response seems more appropiate.

Do they. Any Mercedes issue I've had whilst its been under warranty has been dealt with FOC and provided with cars varying from Ka's to CLS grand editions.

Would a tint ever fail. It sticks to the glass and that is that. If the tints did de-laminate and were fitted by the dealer, they would fix it, getting an estate car tinted is a £150 job, I should know, I had mine done and it was fine.

There's a case here for the customer not to alienate the supplier. By saying he is not happy but says "I want the windows tinted and the badges off and for the hassle how about a free first service" everyone walks away a winner. Buyer gets the car they wanted sooner and with less hassle.

Lifes too short for hassles and quarrels IMHO especially over a car.

And if the customer was able to act with a modicum of pragmatism. Please.

A window tint or some factory tinted glass shipped over to be fitted to the car and the badges removed and the car is in order. I know people like to go into situations guns blazing but whether its a chippy or S class, you are dealing with people and minor mistakes happen, its called being human.

Being human allows you to act reasonably and get what you want, without being awkward. The time to be awkward is when the dealer says, tough, we ain't doing nothing about it, take it or leave it, then raise hell but if they act reasonably, there is no need to be unreasonable.

You should never go in guns blazing and being reasonable is always the best policy. My issue with your post ST4 is that i do not believe the original poster is being deliberately obtuse. Or do I think that asking for what you wanted in the first place is deliberately obtuse. The OP should point out the negatives of the situation and how they have come about through no fault of the OP, and ask what MB will do to rectify the situation.

My main point is that no matter how much money is involved these days businesses take for granted customer's good grace and that they will get the business no matter what. That is why when members on here get good customer service (like I do with Harrogate) we rave about it, and, when we don't, we voice are discord.( ie Belfast)

There's advice here about rejecting the car, thats IMHO being deliberately obtuse.

The OP wants the privacy glass fitted, yet doesn't want it retrofitted. Well err how is going to be fitted. Thats IMHO being awkward. What a better approach is "my new car hasn't been debadged nor has the tinted windows, can you please debadge it and tint the windows to OEM spec, either by using a film or sending over tinted glass from the factory for the dealer to fix....I'll take it away and drop it back in once you have the glass in but I'll want a decent loan car for the day and how about a free first service for the hassle this has caused". Polite, effective and a workable solution for both parties.
