How the vehicle is being funded is not an issue.

The vehicle being supplied incorrectly is.

It only wants a debadge and some tints retro fitted, it's not like it's got the wrong engine in it or it's the wrong colour.

If OP throws his teddies, he'll have to wait for another one to be built, and the deals on these cars won't be as cheap as they are for too much longer.

I'm going in to the dealership tomorrow, what will they offer?

So in your very wise or not so wise opinions, what do you think the dealer will offer??
What is a reasonable conclusion? In your opinion?

It actually needs privacy glass fitted rather than tints. A different ball-game entirely.

I still reckon this car was not factory ordered.

Debadge it and get the windows tinted.

Nick

If you ordered a car with privacy glass, would you happily accept tints if the dealer cocked up the order ?

In private, I suspect not ...

The contract remains at the same price - regardless.

They'll just retrofit it, what's the big deal?

Rattles, squeaks, damage etc.

As I said, what if it was a new car that YOU had ordered ?

How would you react ?

You can either be sensible about it and drive away from the dealership, or get a bus pass until they've built a new one, if they're prepared to that is.

What would YOU do in this situation ?

I would not take it,,, plastic tints are not privacy glass. I too would not want the doors to be totally stripped to fit the right glass, plus what do you do with the rear window. My CL has this glass and its very different from tints,

Listen to what they offer or preferably get it in writing, tell them you will have to consult her indoors, the dog what ever, then post it on here.
There is no rush I presume ?

Well your right there, there is no rush now, the initial excitement of a new car has been washed down the loo!! So it's now time to see which cards are played.
If I haven't made a decision tomorrow I'll post their reaction on here and lets see what you guys and gals think.

Shall we have a sweepstake on the outcome?

I think a deal will be done whereby the OP keeps the original car and some sort of accomodation is agreed upon, finanical or otherwise.

And for this I stake 10p

Why not, the car will be fine after the windows being taken out. If a car is broken into and the glass replaced its fine. Just like before.

And that's only if he really cannot bear the film tints.

If he wants neither than some cash back to cover the value of the glass and a free service would suffice.

I don't get all the wannabe perry masons on here. It's a smallish mistake that is rectifiable

I really wouldn't worry about windows being replaced, all the cards etc. are held on with clips, will be exactly the same as the ones from the factory.
Removing dashboards etc. can be a pain as they are not always screwed back together with correct torque settings etc. so can cause vibrations etc.

If they offer to put in new factory glass then I would let them. They may not want to do this as it will cost them a lot of money, but if you have offered then you have been more than reasonable.

The debadging is a non issue, takes 15 minutes and you will never know.

The only issue is the way they have upped the residual, meaning you are paying £300 more for the car than agreed, this would really annoy me, now, if the car had been perfect I would have shrugged my shoulders, taken the car and just been left with a bit of a sour taste, but the car was not perfect and it gives you time to think 'why should I just take that sort of crap?'

So go in and be firm but fair, they hate it when a customer is fair, giving them an option that makes sense but may hit them hard financially will put them in a tricky spot, they won't be able to argue the toss.

Look forward to hearing how you get on.

I think the salient comment is
" no rush now, the initial excitement of a new car has been washed down the loo!"
they now have to relight your fire, its rained and windy, they will have to work at it.

Your head is in the right place for a good deal.

I really do not think that you understand what has to be done to replace the windows, everything in the door has to come out, all the factory settings lost.
All C pillar trim has to come out to do the rear window, it is a massive job and if you have never tried to do this or fully understand you should not say its easy, it is far more than the little plastic clips that hold the door cards on, the car would never be the same again.

The OP has already said that the joy of getting a new car has passed, that is sad but this does happen, if he takes it as is, a free service will never make up the next few years of possibly hating the car. I love my CL for what it is and what it has, I would have no real interest in a car that did not have what I wanted.
