New CLK55 this weekend?

After a long time without a car due to work i am now back looking... am now considering a CLK55 and am going to look at one this weekend, she is a 2003 with, by the sounds of it lots of extras. they are asking £19k, with 30k miles on the clock. Does this sound steep?

Are there any things i should look out for? I have read about the Valeo problem but im still not sure what to look out for or if i should be looking for a younger car. Any help much appreciated.

I've had a 2003 CLK55 AMG from new and have not had the valeo problem. It did have a miss fire early on in its life and I have also had one rocker gasket replaced at 72000 miles so its worth just having a look in the engine bay to see if the cover is showing any signs of oil leakage.

Also when you take it for a test drive brake hard to ensure there is no judder - if there is then negotiate a reduction to replace your brake disks.

I'm not great on prices but have seen them on the classifieds for £15 to £20K - but I think alot depends ont he condition.

Also the spark plugs should have been changed at 4 years - so make suee they have been done even though its low milage.

£19K is slightly expensive. even with 30K on the clock and history dont justify the price.

I am sure i have seem 2003 AMG's for alot less than that on autotrader.

Last august i missed a 2003 55 which went through the ring at £13250.

Trader bought it and sold it (eventually) for circa £14k.

It was cubanite which didn't help but was sub 60,000.

I reckon £15k is good money for a 2003 plate. £19k is crazy IMHO

My CLK55 Cab with loads of extras sat on the MB of Edinburgh forecourt for almost a year. They started it off at £26,995 and last I saw it was sitting around £18k or so. That was for a 03/53 with just under 60k on the clock.
