I'm wanting to flush out the cooling system of my E280.
Any tips on the following?
Should I use a flushing agent (Holts) first?
Am I right to run the engine with clear water only for a couple of cycles to get the old coolant out of the heater?
I'm told it is important to use the proper MB antifreeze (orange/yellew). Is this true, as my local independent has told me I can use "Febi" brand which is to MB specification - but I don't know what colour it is.
Apparantly, It is a sign of bad servicing to have your header tank showing fluid any other colour than the MB orange - is this true?.....I don't want to be ostracized/blacked/strung-up by the experts!!!!!

I have heard that on higher mileage engines, flushing the system can reveal leaks that werent there pre flushing because the flush removes any sludge thats built up....it dosent rain but it pours!

I stayed in Mississauga (just outside Toronto) for a year and it soon gets cold, VERY COLD, in winter.
So if sunsil sood's antifreeze works, that's good enough for me.

john,

am happy with febi/antifreeze miture.
i live in england, where temperatures drop down up to minus 10 degrees in centigrade in winter-in canada you experience temps of of up to minus 30 to 40 centigrade, therefore if you are going to use febi antifreeze, read the the instuctions in your owners manual, to get protection down to those temperatures.
