63 plate 350cdi blue efficiency shooting brake. 59k miles. MBFSH
Car been to Specialist
Gear and electric problems
Elects sorted (I think) by v good auto electrics new battery still had original.
Gears great then not
Gear box conductor plate check ok No faults recorded, gear box serviced, oil changed etc was v low and black
Only fault code DPF, computer test shows correct flow thru DPF. Code cleared
Drives ok then goes in limp mode NO engine management light, then same with EML ON.
No pattern at all to it.
Mechanic 25 plus yrs mercs mostly puzzled
Need to decide where next....we buy any car or keep trying to diagnose. Don't have endless funds hence no merc dealer

Is the oil cooler for the gearbox oil leaking , the atf must of gone somewhere. Engine faults cause erratic gearbox behaviour,so don't presume it's the box at fault.

Try and get live data for exhaust back pressure sensor and dpf sensor .

Data for DPF is good 0.3 in can't remember out but mechanic said its normal

I can't see how it was low ? How much came out ? At only 59k it should still be running perfectly good.

Mmmmm. ? Must of evaporated then if no leaks .

Holds about 10 litres in total Inc TC and cooler and pipes . 6 is normally seen at a drain.

Also FYI looking through service records it hasn't been changed. Serviced every year only doing Ave 4k - 5k a year
No expense spared by previous owner I know him

Should of been done at year 5 . And year 10 .

Can't explain why it wasn't but I'm sure that question will be put to MB Sheffield tomorrow
The car is back at German auto specialist, they are going to look at it again tomorrow/ next week
If or when it's sorted I'll post FYI
It's a real head scratcher, I'm not a mechanic and limited in the field however I've 40 plus yrs driving experience from forklifts to class 1 HGVs. The puzzle for me is all the technology isn't finding it or mechanics with years of experience working on mercs
and no patterns at all
Yesterday after gear box service it was perfect tested on all road types for approx 25 mile .....then no eml but in limp mode took it early morning to down M1 ok then not then OK then not and eml on.
Mystery continues...

Eml only shows after 6 or so consecutive same faults codes , if it's on now , codes will be stored .

Could be turbo actuator faults. Back pressure sensor . ??

Previous keeper maybe declined the gearbox service as it's extra if your not on a mb service plan.

There's been a mouse in engine having a nibble at wiring.
Been for test drive tonight with mechanic ....still got intermittent fault, mechanic gutted got to be a break in wiring he will need to find it tomorrow more £££££

Rodent damage is covered on your insurance! Hopefully just restricted damage to a small area.

It's bad been everywhere apparently. Top of gear box which I'm told you can just see but it's a gearbox out job to fit new loom in addition what other damage do they find ???

Ironically no, I think when I went on holiday it was parked near fields/woodland it's my only conclusion, however could be completely wrong.
Believe it was mice, rats would of destroyed a lot more
