£1599.50 for the privilege of Mercedes?
Probably about £600, but this comes pre-built with OS and software :D

I'm not saying it's expensive at all really, I was just making fun of the hardware prices. :). I bet after a garage has bought the unit there is little to no profit on this.

It sure does! Client is Mercedes you say .. sharp intake of breath ;)

The hardware is of the shelf, VPNs are ten a penny and child's play to set up.

Encryption isn't expensive and there may well be a dongle in there tying it to the licence holder.

So far, so normal for lots of non-Mercedes applications.

It could still be done in an afternoon using a raspberry Pi for less than £100 :p
