Hello

We have just purchased a brand new C220 cdi elegance auto. It is pulling very slightly to the left and after going back to the dealer thinking the tracking might be out, we were told it it the geometery / camber out and they need to order some bolts! (The car is a week old!)

This car is a replacement for one which MB very kindly replaced for us which had bodywork issues but which drove perfectly (no pulling).

I'm due in the garage in the morning to have these bolts fitted, but having just read some threads on the site about pulling and "don't have MB correction bolts fitted", I'm now rather worried about it and considering cancelling until I find out more. Will it make it drive worse? Any help, suggestions or advice greatly appreciated.

Didn't you notice it when you test drove it and you should have pointed it to them then?

Unfortunatley, we didn't get to test drive the actual car as it's a factory ordered brand new one. And a replacement one at that!

There was a similar issue several years ago, when I bought a brand new c180 in 01, a friend bought a c270 at the same time. They had severe probs with pulling to left and after long wrangles with the dealer (who made all kind of ridiculous allegations) the car was eventually replaced. So dont accept any cr*p if the fitting of new bolts does not solve problem, under the sale of goods act the item must be fit for purpose.

Thanks for that. Would you suggest letting them fit them then and seeing how it goes? We feel worse as this car is already a replacement one they had to order in for us because of bodywork damage on the first one we bought.

As above you must let them fit the bolts, and then try the car. Let us hope that they have a good guy doing the job

W203's are noted for this and Mercedes have a procedure for dealers to follow and the first step is swapping the wheels diagonally to see if that makes a difference.

My car has staggered setup (wider rear tyres than fronts) so I could only swap the fronts over but it's definitely better - it's more of a gentle drift now, where before it used to roll lock on as it went to the left.

I'm dismayed to hear about it on W204 though - general instability ruins my car.
