Hi there,

What do you think of the M276 3.5 litre N/A engine?
I think mine has the M272 DE35 engine, 292bhp, being a late 2010 model, but happy to be proven wrong if it's the case. Either way, the engine is very smooth and refined in "Comfort" mode, but reveals some growl and eagerness in "Sport" mode. Not AMG punch, but it's no slouch and has plenty of power making it feel very confident. It only has 68k on it so no big issues as yet (touch wood!).

[Edit] Just checked, as I thought, it's an M272.983. I would guess the M276 is an improvement in every way, in theory!

I think you are right according to Wiki the M276 was introduced in the E class in 2012 so your engine will be the M272 with the 90 degree V angle and balancing shafts so the predecessor.

Good to hear you are enjoying ownership I’m currently considering changing my E350cdi for a similar petrol model with the M276 engine but waiting for prices to come back down to earth

I would expect if you're going for the 2012 or later update with the M276 it would be a fabulous drive, the petrol engines are very smooth. Hopefully the chip shortage is unwinding and "previously cherished" car prices will return to normal soon.

The petrol engine versions are quite scarce, it took me quite a while to find mine, ironically only a mile from me after a couple of other possibles fell through hundreds of miles away.

Good luck with your switch!
