Hi, new member here. I have 3 Wi24s, 2 are 1994/5 cabriolets (blue and silver) and the third is a really nice original 320E. Recent work has been replacing seals on all roof pistons of one of the cabs and I am currently replacing the sagging roof lining on the 320E. Headlining board is out and 95% of adhesive goo is removed - yuk! B pillar linings are being re- glued while they are out. I love the cabs but the 16" wheels from a W202 C Class certainly add a bit of class to the 320E. The 320Es are pretty rare in Australia and are yet to be discovered as the great blend of older body style and later 3.2 M104 engine. Only drawback is only a driver airbag for the more safety conscious of us, but she's pretty safe for a 1993 classic!

G'day Jim and welcome.
Nice car. I've been to Oz twice and I'll be going again in February, l love the country. Mercs don't seem to be anywhere near as common over there as they are in the UK.

Thanks everyone for your kind welcomes, I look forward to gaining a lot from the forums, and also contributing when I can. If anyone wants the inside story of removing W124 cabriolet pistons and replacing seals, my son and I could be your men! Mercedes were, of course imported to Australia as top of the range luxury cars, no taxis here. However, with the climate and total absence of salt usage on the roads (ski season in the mountains excepted) most Mercedes remain totally rust free - my three cars are. However, with the cost of spares and the stealership charges it is sad to see so many totally rust free, excellent condition cars in the wreckers for mechanical failures . This is particularly so for the '90s cars S, E and C class. Enthusiasts are enjoying a golden age of spares from these sources, but I don't think it's going to last, and it's nigh impossible to find a good engine harness...…... I know questions here are 'verboten' so I will just say that I am very interested in learning more about the 320Es that were produced in total, and how many came to Australia. My research to date has only uncovered numbers where the 320Es are lumped in with the large numbers of E320s

Sileck in the UK refurbish the engine harness. You send yours in and they return it a few weeks later.
Many thanks for the harness info, I have emailed them for a ball-park cost.
