New member, old car

Hi all,

I have just bought a 1992 280E 4 speed auto. It has 2 previous owners, 104k on the clock, full Mercedes history and appears to be an extremely solid car for the £800 I paid for it.

However, I know nothing about these cars at all. Can someone helpful tell me what I should watch out for and pass on any helpful tips?

Hi Pigpen and welcome, its far too hard to tell you what to look out for as most of these cars just go on and on.

That car is low mileage, and a full MB history, so thats unusual in itself.

You are better of asking when or if you get any problems, though by owning the most popular and most loved car on the forum, in the mean time please join in where ever you wish

Thanks for the welcome. After having a nose round the forum I take it I own a W124 or something similar?

It really does seem a great car, done 400 miles this week commuting out of and back into London and couldn't be happier with it.

Yes it comes under the Eclass so a 124 for that year, I wished that I still had mine
