New Member Posting '93 320CE Vacuum Pipe Routing

I've just bought a '93 320CE. I'm really pleased with the overall quality and Engineering, but not surprisingly, I have a question (for openers), can anyone help?

There is a disconnected Vacuum pipe (about a foot long) hanging from a switch under the plastic Cover (the one with the Mercedes star on it) on the front/top of the engine. Any idea where it should go?

Any other things I should know as a new owner?

I also have the hose like that, as u discribe, in my 92' 300E, I think it shouldn't be connect with anything, as nothing go wrong with mind.

Answering my own emails................only one step away from talking to yourself.

Anyway, for anyone interested, turns out the Vacuum pipe is supposed to go to a vacuum switch/air valve attached to the Exhaust Gas Recircular Valve (EGR), hidden just below the front of the exhaust manifold. No wonder I couldn't see where it went. :?

Starting has immediately improved, but nothing else obvious has changed......................I do sleep better at nights now without the worry...... :wink:

Oh, mind is located in the Inlet side, not the exhaust side, might be the one u talking about, is not the one I found!! But anyway, have u find another vacume hose hanging somewhere else?

Sorry, they're all present and accounted for now.

There are quite a few CD Manuals available cheaply on Ebay (pirated copies). The one I bought for a tennner gave me enough info to sort mine out.

Better value than a Haynes "book of lies"......
