If this is not the right forum, moderators please move it, thanks

Im a new member to these forums, I have a 1998 S600 among a few cars I have, and am currently looking at a 2004 CLK 500 Elegance Tiptronic, for my wife, since we sold a few cars recently, and shes using my S for her daily.

Among others I run a 2005 VW Phaeton V6 TDI.

Has anyone experienced the CLK 500? Please give me any opinions you may have.

Dear Mccombie,
This has nothing to do with your question, but would like to know what you think about the 98 S600.
Do you find it expensive to run or service?
Does it live up to your expectations?
How does it compare to the post 99 updated version or S class.
Will be touring around Europe next year in my E280 estate, and am tempted to p/ex in for an S for more comfort, convenience & style rather than performance or speed.
Is the S 600 the very top model?

Have been told that this 93 to 99 'S' model was the best ever produced, what do you say?

Obviously your wife thinks a lot of the car, if, as you say you have other cars.
Sorry I cannot comment on your iriginating question.
Many thanks,
Keith.

Sorry for the belated reply, but yes, it exceeds any expectations! I only bought it in Octrober so I havent had a service to cope with, but I know it wont be cheap and I'm prepared for that.

I pad £15,000 for it, its black/black with 44,000 miles (42 when i got it) owned by one person from new.

I owned a 99-05 S in 2000, it was an S500, and I have also had a 1994 320SEL, which I bought new, and since this is my second W140, it must have done somethign right back in 94! Its a fantastic motor, fast, smooth, BETTER built thatn the 99-05, and they are timeless, stick a private plate on it and nobody knows if its a 92 or a 99, which is great. No matter which S you get, you get repect.

I would recommend the W140 S over the 99-05. Its a fantastic, but very thirsty car with the 6.0 V12. I drove it Today, and reminded myself how fantastic it is, It was the best car in the wolrd at the time, there is no better.

Also the car of choice for the Russian MAFIA.
