- Your Mercedes
- W202 1999 C200
Hello,
I recently bought my first Mercedes - a clean, low mileage 1999 C200 (W202).
Tasks I have done include:
* Upgraded to a Sony DAB radio with CD and USB playback. I expected to have DAB reception problems; however, it has behaved flawlessly. I used a hidden (behind the unit) in-lead DAB signal splitter/amplifier using the existing embedded rear-window antenna;
* Repaired the very intermittent heater/air-con fan speed control - using contact cleaner;
* Driver door sill metal inlaid decorative strips replaced;
* Both front headrests have been repaired where the closing flaps of material were just hanging loose.
Repairs still needed:
* The near-side rear electric window is dead, regardless of using the console switch or the door switch. No apparent current being drawn from the battery, so assuming a break in the door harness of a burnt-out motor;
* Head/roof lining is just starting to hang (only noticeable when pointed-out), the lining material is in perfect condition and tight; however, I expect a very time-consuming (or expensive) repair;
* Battery will need to be replaced before his winter;
* Minor paintwork detailing.
Enjoying the journey so far.
Michael
