Hi everyone.

So last week I ordered 5 Mercedes C300e estate from Mercedes for my works team.

The dealership kindly sent me a c300e to demo. The good news was it drove lovely and I average 62mpg over 580 miles with one full 55 mile range charge.

The bad news,

The car broke down in the service station. I couldn’t get the car out of park. Instead it kept saying malfunction. Press foot on brake to move to D. But nothing I did worked.

I had to call Mercedes out. The RAC came, took a look at the model and said that he can’t touch it. I then had to wait for recovery to come as the RAC guy left within 5 minutes of arriving. No one contacted me from Mercedes to update me and I ended up abandoning the car (as I had my 20 month old son with me) paying £180 for a taxi home. Mercedes called me 24 hours later to say they still haven’t collected the car.

My question is;

Does anyone else have a c300e 2022 and have experienced similar issues?

Is that normal service from Mercedes since Covid?

Just looking for some advice as I need another 8 on top of the 5 for my sales team and I am concerned.

Cheers and all the best

Chris

Hello and welcome,

The unintended “benefits” of a modern EV…
It’s all still a bit too new and software updates are the usual “fix”

Low BIK is the only valid reason for having one…
Whilst your economy is ok, I used to get 20mpg more from a diesel E class. Only issue is BIK is half as much these days for an EV or Hybrid.
EV range will also be ~1/2 manufacturers numbers in real life driving.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I agree it’s the BIK saving. I currently got them all Tesla but they are 3 years old now so changing for the Merc. Tbf I got 52 miles on the electric only and that’s mainly driving normal. I was thinking about the diesel but BIK is high.

The road to hell is paved with very good intentions and you’re just following the guidance as made by government policy… same as we all did with diesels and unleaded before that.

I don’t know the solution (if I did I’d be a bit better off financially…). As you’re getting new then MB will be updating software often, I’d make sure you have a pool vehicle or 2 available for the inevitable if you need to keep your team mobile…;)

Hello and welcome

Welcome to the electric world of motoring.
There is no infrastructure for EV for another 10 years (that if they are still about when H20 takes off) Plus no break down service for EV's when it happens.

My Uncle back in the 70's said, 'there is no substitute for petrol'
A time when everyone was introducing CNG, LPG and diesel' to the taxi fleet's
My Uncle ran a Morris Oxford, an Austin Kimberley, Austin Tasman and HQ Holden's. Three 6 cylinder makes were converted to CNG and the forth to LPG.
The petrol taxi's far out weighed the life's of all the other converted cars for cleaner, more cost efficient running.........That's a good reason for me to stick with environmental planet saving cars.

Although you will have your reasons for EV's for your fleet and far from it for me to dictate to you..............Of course, this is all my own opinion. :)

charmonafarm you must also be an important customer for MB having ordered 5 vehicles. Do you have a fleet account manager? They should be keeping you very happy with that amount of business so leaving your car stranded really isn't good enough. Then again they should be keeping all customers happy, to be fair! Sadly, the customer is still the 'test train' for this relatively new technology and MB seem particularly poor in this area to date.

Might regret saying this but love my C300E. Was getting 70miles on battery during late summer, now down to 55-60MPG rainy dark nights
Recently had issue with battery not charging over 30%. Forum suggested software conflict with pre entry climate control. I deleted all climate control settings and now charging over 30% and hopefully on its way to 100 as I write.
No other problems so far fingers crossed because all big brand main dealers are the same these days if you ask me and my next job is to find a good independent.

If i was ordering 13 new cars from Mercedes I’d be making sure they repaid the taxi fare and looked after me a lot better.
Get the sales team all RAV4 hybrids……

Welcome to the forum by the way.
