Any thoughts on the new model SLK200. I am thinking of changing marque from the past 5 Audi's i have had in 5 years to a SLK.Was going to test drive one in Feb this year but dealer was messing me about and then rung to see the car that i was test driving had been sold.....so i bought a TTR...

Rear wheel drive? will this be a problem in snow, rainy or very windy weather?
Is it easy to chip to get something close to 225bhp?
Running costs/service intervals?
Looking to buy a used where someone has put the right goodies on it!
Cant believe the list price, no leather, basic alloys and ICE system that to upgrade would take it to 32k

£1600 Gets 215hp.....you dont need to upgrade the ICE....

USED NEW R171 still at new prices unless you get high miler or dealer knocks a bit off. expect to pay anything up to around £1k more for a used one on forecourt as opposed to new waiting list. you are better off hoping a refused order come thru in a spec you are happy with. that way you will get list price....or hang on till end of summer when 280 apears.....some may off load 200 against this and the prices at least will be a bit cheaper.

Basically SLKs don't go anywhere - not even out of the car park - in snow unless you have special all season or winter tyres. I know because I've tried driving in snow. The service costs are now very high because Mercedes have introduced a dealership cartel and now charge about £250 to change the oil. The price of the new SLK is a joke. Mercedes have decided to up the price of all new models and they've also latched on to the BMW and Porsche trick of offering millions of options at extortionate prices.

altho i dont really agree with Tonys view about the SLK..

the dealer charges for service are daft...and the SLK in particular is crap in snow......
