New Owner - Best Garage North West/ North Wales

Hi all,

Well I finally treated myself to a Mercedes in the form of a C Class!

Now wondering if there's any recommendations for independent Mercedes garages to get it serviced at in the North West/ North Wales?

Its done 58k miles and is 8 years old but has never had the auto gearbox oil done so would like that done as part of as well (or is it just worth doing that myself?).

Also, has anyone had any experience with any CanCoat or similar coating products as I'm pretty keen to get an extra bit of protection on with the weather as it is.

The indie I use is SDC Mercedes in St Helens, not a million miles away from you, if you can't find anywhere closer, excellent, really knows his stuff.

For my Mercs ( and also randomly my Galaxy when I had it), knows his way around and very diligent - highly recommended
I haven’t used the Cancoat route with recent cars, I’ve had Gyeon MOHS ceramic applied which is highly durable- the Cancoat does look a decent budget option though

I've gave MD a call and looking around £200 for the gearbox and £300 for the full service on top.

I'll give SDC a call in the morning and see what they say but just trying to gauge. In no rush as its still got 6 months till it is due.

I've not got many good pics as of yet with this weather as it's a struggle to keep clean hence the CanCoat but here's a quick one

Think I'll give the CanCoat a go as a beginner and see where I go from there.

Welcome buddy , with the gearbox service , check if the work/price includes the oil change in the gearbox Torque converter as well because half the oil is held in that .
Whilst the car is up in the air see if they think it’s worth spraying some rust preventer /waxoyl type stuff into the rear subframe . Especially if you are keeping the car long term . There have been some rust issues on earlier c class platforms . 15 minute job , you could provide the spray .

That is about right, my gearbox cost the same, oil out, flush to clean it and new oil in, should be done every 4 years
