MERCEDES-BENZ C-CLASS Coupe (CL203) C 220 CDI Diesel (02/04 - 05/08)
Hi All,

I will receive some inheritance later in the year, so i'm thinking of buying a medium sized Merc, say between £10,000 and £15,000.. I would like it to be petrol, automatic and fairly economical.. can I have some advise on what model to get? or what would you get? I bet I get lots of different answers!!

There’s loads to choose from in that price range , of various models.
It comes down to what you use the car for/mileage/ taste etc. ?
Good choice going for a Merc though, + you’ll find this Forum the Go to place.
Good Luck.

What do you call 'fairly economical' - 25 mpg? 30mpg? 35mpg?

2 seats or 4?

Good call on the auto... You don't want a manual Mercedes!

4 seats... I have a diesel at the moment but the problem is that I mainly do commuting so diesel isn't good for that, but I would also like good mpg on a long run if possible!

So... That pretty much 4 cylinders and C class (ideally not m271 powered).

When you say diesels aren't good for commuting , they are if the distance isn't too short and the car gets up to temp . How short a commute are we talking buddy ?

You should be able to get a C or E class petrol for that money (some of the E class convertibles 2012 fall into sub £15k )

Ok 4 seats... 2 doors or 4?
I'm not too fussed about 2 or 4 doors tbh... One thing I do need the car to be not too long as Parking where I live is a nightmare!!!

It all depends on what you will call decent MPG.
I have a current S205 C class estate, 2 litre petrol, and I get 42 MPG on a long run if i stick to about 70 mph.
Knocking around on shortish runs 10-15 miles I see about 30 mpg.
So not too bad, but nowhere near what you might expect from the diesel variants.
Good luck on your hunt.
